Our economy is changing daily, and with it, the talents, skills, and experience needed to be a part of that growth cycle are too. For job applicants to have the required experience to fit in this globally changing environment,  applied learning and internship opportunities are becoming a key part of the college experience for all students to fit even before graduation.

Internships are often the best option for students because they’d want to get a feel to work without being thrown into the deep end straight away and this provides them with the opportunity to learn and grow.

Here are 3 reasons why you should join an internship as a student:

1. Application of Knowledge

Internships are a great way to apply the knowledge from the classroom to real-world experience. Learning is one thing, but taking those skills into the workplace and applying them is a great way to educate yourself more.

2.Nothing Ever Becomes Real Until it’s Experienced

Having an internship gives you experience in the field you want to pursue. Not only does this give individuals an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs, but it also prepares them for what to expect in their field and increases confidence in their work.

When you start an internship, you have the advantage of working closely to top minds in your field. Nothing compares to living the actual experience, as internships will help you learn all about workplace culture, employee relations, and leadership structure. All of which should help you onboard in your first professional job with more ease than if they haven’t had professional experience.

3.Get Your C.V. Picked Easily

Most organizations nowadays require a proven record of professional experience for you to get hired. And just to make sure that you won’t lose out on a job opportunity, it’s preferred to have an internship on your resume before leaving college to give you a push on the competition and make your C.V. stand out.

For those of you who own companies, work in organizations you could benefit 100% from hiring interns in your workplace.

Here are 3 reasons why you should hire interns

1. Discover New (And Hidden) Talent

If you haven’t hired an intern before, then you are missing out on so much fresh ideas that could benefit your company. Internships open up endless possibilities and opportunities to new and unique talent that you might not have among the team. You could even find one of your most successful employees this way.

2.Gain brand advocates.

Hiring an intern helps spread the word about your company—whether you mean to or not. If you’re an impressive internship supervisor and mentor, your interns will probably talk about their experience with peers, friends and family members, essentially advertising for your organization. Hiring interns not only helps students in your community get started; but also, it enhances the local workplace as a whole.

3.Help with projects or tasks that you’re struggling to

complete.

An interested candidate takes on an internship in hopes of accomplishing something to use on their resume or in future interviews. Give them real, meaningful work that will help your organization run smoother, accomplish more, or be more successful.

CIC’s take on Internships inside-out!

We, here, at CIC understood the impact of practical learning since we first opened our gates to students. We have developed an internship program for all of our students in both campuses. CIC has been offering both summer and winter internships in various fields such as Marketing, Finance, students affairs, etc...

And we have seen the huge impact of the internships on our students whether through the experience they have learned, or the friendships they have built with each other. Even some of them have made it and are now part of the CIC staff.

Here is a closer look at our interns over the past couple of seasons.

If you are ready to start an internship or are thinking about doing it in the future, check with your campus for more information on current offerings, and how to apply.
