As an educational institution we couldn’t pass this Parade without stressing on the importance of such an event.

The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly decided that on Monday April 3, 2021, with the Ministerial Committee for Tourism and Antiquities, final arrangements for the royal procession that will transfer 22 mummies ,18 kings and four queens, dating back to the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties of ancient Egypt’s kings and queens to their new home the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC).

The royal procession will take spectators back to the ancient Egyptian period, when kings and queens were transported to their tombs towards eternity.

It will take place against the backdrop of fireworks and to the tune of honorary salvos. A cavalcade will also accompany the mummies. The new procession will see the royal mummies transported on the Nile and then accompanied by chariots and horses.

Among the famous mummies are King Sequenenre, who began the liberation war against the Hyksos; Queen Hatshepsut, the owner of the magnificent temple of Deir Al-Bahari on Luxor's West Bank; and King Ramesses II, the great pharaoh of the New Kingdom, also the mummies include those of Seti I, Seqenenre, and Tuthmosis III, Meritamun, the wife of King Amenhotep I, and Ahmose Nefertari, the wife of King Ahmose.

Once they arrive at NMEC, the mummies will be subjected to restoration in a laboratory for almost 15 days in order to be prepared for installation inside its new showcases at the Royal Mummies Hall, decorated to look like the “Valley of the Kings,” the area that houses their original tombs.

The NMEC covers some 135,000 square metres and overlooks the Ain Al-Sira Lake, close to the religious compound where Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque is located, near the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue in Old Cairo.

And as for the international figures they have confirmed their attendance at the event, and 400 TV channels have also confirmed they will broadcast it.
